Children, privacy and parent permission
Yezbi is built for parents. This page sums up how children use Yezbi and how we handle their information, in everyday language. The full details are in the Yezbi Privacy Policy, whose section 6 is our notice to parents.
Parents are in charge
An adult creates the family account. Children never sign up or sign in on their own. They use Yezbi on a family display a parent sets up, and in browser games that keep nothing on our servers.
How parent permission works
Until a parent gives permission, the family display still shows your family's day, but nothing your children do on it is saved. To give permission, a parent:
- asks for it in Yezbi Homeschool, under Family settings › Parental permission;
- receives our notice by email, at the address they sign in with (the link works for 7 days);
- opens the link, reads the notice, confirms they're the children's parent or legal guardian, chooses whether AI help stays on, and selects I agree;
- receives a second email about a day later, confirming the permission and explaining how to withdraw it.
You can withdraw permission any time in Family settings › Parental permission, or by emailing privacy@yezbi.com. We then stop saving what your children do.
What children can do
- On the family display: see their day, check off their chores and lessons, earn stars and ask for rewards (rewards are off until you turn them on for a child), and use the display as themselves.
- Play Yezbi's browser games and use HistoMap's kids mode, which keep progress in the browser only.
- Use Yezbi Placement, with a parent.
What children can't do
- Children don't get their own accounts or sign-ins.
- They can't post, chat or share anything others can see. Yezbi has no chat, comments or messaging between users.
- Apart from Ask on the family display (below), children can't send messages, post, upload or use voice on Yezbi.
Ask on the family display
Ask is a grown-up's AI helper. On a family display it works as the parent who set up the display, and it's on there unless a parent turns it off. If a child types in it there, what they type goes to our AI provider like a grown-up's words, with names replaced. If your children use the display, you can turn Ask off in that display's settings, or leave it on and let them ask for help as you would at your own screen.
What we collect from children
- Which chores and lessons a child marks done on the family display, and when.
- Stars a child earns, and the rewards they ask for.
- When a child uses the display as themselves.
- The display's key (stored scrambled), its IP address and technical details, to keep it signed in to your family and protect the service.
The browser games and HistoMap's kids mode keep nothing on our servers. Information you type about your children, such as their names, plans, chores and pictures, isn't collected from your child, but we protect it the same way.
AI
- Some features use AI to help grown-ups. AI help is on unless you turn it off, and the family owner can switch it off for the whole family at any time in Family settings.
- AI never makes decisions about your children: it does not grade, place or approve content for them.
- What we never send to AI: names, learning notes, strengths, sex or pronouns, religious or cultural preferences, grades, birth dates, family members' pictures, and anything your children do on the family display, apart from what's typed in Ask there.
- Ask runs on Anthropic's Claude Haiku 5.5. Children's names are replaced by "Child 1", "Child 2".
- Our other AI features run on Cloudflare Workers AI, using the open GLM-5.3 Flash model on Cloudflare's own network; the model's maker receives nothing. Cloudflare's terms say it does not use our AI requests or results to train AI.
The companies that work for us
- Cloudflare: hosts every Yezbi app, stores our databases and files, filters abusive traffic and sends our emails.
- Cloudflare Workers AI, with Cloudflare's computing partners CoreWeave and Nebius: our AI features other than Ask.
- Anthropic: reads what's typed in Ask.
- Clerk: adult sign-in. No children's information.
- Google Workspace: our email inboxes.
- Your browser's push service: delivers the alerts you turn on.
- Stripe, when paid plans start: subscription payments. We never see or store your full card number, and Stripe receives no information about your children.
Some features also contact other services, such as YouTube, Open Library, Google Places and the US National Weather Service. Section 5.2 of the Privacy Policy lists each one and exactly what it receives.
What we never do
- We never sell or rent personal information.
- We never share it for targeted advertising.
- We never let companies use it to train AI.
- We never make children's information public.
Your rights as a parent
- See what we have about your child: the family owner can download the family's data in Settings › Privacy & Data, or email us.
- Correct your child's profile at any time in the family settings.
- Stop collection from your child: turn off your family display, or withdraw your permission.
- Delete your child's information by deleting the child in family settings (we purge everything within 7 days), by deleting your whole family in Settings › Privacy & Data, or by emailing privacy@yezbi.com.
